Events: A Night in Fashion

You know that feeling, of not being comfortable in your own skin. I do, all too well. Body image issues have been a huge part of my life. But I also know what it is like to wear an outfit that makes you feel incredible and beautiful. I became a custom dress designer to help relieve the feeling of being insecure about any part of the body. To illuminate women, to show their light at any event they may be attending. Whether it is a day at the office or their wedding day. I create dresses with a bespoke fit and will help you to feel and be as radiant as you really are. My goal is to reach as many women as possible to provide an experience beyond all others, with my wonderful service. My name is Amanda Garrett and I am ready to light up the world even more!

I had a fashion night and show on Saturday March 12th, 2016. It was an amazing night filled with beauty of all calibers. The women who joined me in the debut of my first custom line were absolutely fabulous! Excited and filled with so much joy, my line was created with such love and creativity just pouring out of me. I am so happy to say that with every stitch I became more and more of who I am and the designer that has been waiting for me to emerge. I will be continuing to make custom lines (a little smaller than the first), in order to have exclusive and special evenings like these.  For the wonderful women who would like to join me, please visit www.amegdesigns.com  and sign up! These fabulous fashion evenings will be in honour of women of all shapes, sizes and beauties. I am proud to help you shine your light and can not wait to create for each of you pieces that accentuate the greatest part of you. You are all beautiful!

Also by liking my Facebook page and ordering a custom dress, you will be eligible to win a custom headpiece or veil! Visit A.M.E.G. Designs to enter!

Dress Making Report: Prom Dresses 2016

My friends, A.M.E.G. Designs is now accepting Prom dress orders! My very favourite part of creating custom dresses, is when a client tries that dress on for the last time and it fits perfectly. They light up and are truly present. I get to witness their light, the beauty within them. They spin around and smile so big they could honestly light up the world. The ultimate goal for me is to see this light, that joy! I am so excited to create custom pieces for such a wonderful time in a young girls life. That turning point from girl to young woman. To witness and be apart of this amazing transformation, I feel blessed. Your custom dress will fit you perfectly, be the only one of it's kind and illuminate your beauty inside and out! A.M.E.G. Designs, making all your dress dreams come true!

Accessories!

Spring and Summer is the busiest time of the year! From the end of March until the end of September last year I was creating and altering like a mad seamstress. Loved it! I was so lucky to be able to create my good friends accessories for their wedding. These two are so incredible and I am so grateful to have been apart of their special day. In September, I finished a veil, headpiece, two ring bearer pillows and doggy bow ties for this fabulous couple. To see more pictures from this beautiful visit, www.amegdesigns.com

Dress Making Report: Christmas Addition

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, with loads of love and tons of relaxation!

Over the holiday season I was so blessed to create some very special pieces for some amazing little girls and women in my life.

While I was coming up with the ideas for these pieces, all I knew was that the little girls in my life are so full of fun and imagination, that anything I created for them had to be just that. I found this amazing fabric that looked very whimsical and mermaid like, I was instantly inspired to create the dresses you see in the second picture.

For the two women in my life that are so incredibly supportive and there whenever I need them. I had to think of something very special to put my whole heart into making, (although I put my heart into everything I create for anyone). I thought why not something comfortable and allows them to feel beautiful anytime they wear it, a kimono of course had to be the very solution. I found these beautiful fabrics and knew which one was for who right away. My mom is a light and beautiful woman who loves to be comfortable no matter what she is wearing. The long purple and floral robe was the perfect fit for her, and she loved it. As for the other, my Aquarian Mama. Well this wonderfully,  almost rock n' roll floral pattern (Betsy Johnson looking), had to be it. She loves black mostly when choosing her attire, but I knew this was perfect for her because it had such edge. I also wanted to keep it for myself because it is very me too, she was thrilled I didn't!

Dress Making Report: Halloween Addition

It has been a little while since I have posted, life has happened and I am only now able to post some projects that I have been working on.

As Halloween was a pretty busy time for me this year I was able to create a couple fun of costumes.  One was this amazing Harley Quinn for a client! Never having made a jump suit, other then the 'Jumper', I was very excited to try something new. It turned out really well and fit my client perfectly. The best part of finishing a project is seeing the clients face, when wearing the finished piece. She jumped up and down, and hugged me, I knew then she loved it!

There were two events for me this year, one was a Gotham Banquet at the Oasis in Port Credit. What an fabulous time we had! Those of you who know me, know how much I love Batman, see 'The Batman Dress'. For this event I created a Bat Woman costume with somethings I had around the house, it's a good thing I don't throw away everything. This costume turned out really well. My friend and I even ended up in one the local papers, along with some other awesome people in their costumes. (Page 31)

The second event was a friend of a friend's Stag and Doe, which was a lot of fun! I made a very simple Cave Woman costume, consisting of a leopard print dress, bones and some furry knee highs. I had a great time creating this one.
