Dress Making Report: Flower Girl Dress

Isn't she the sweetest? This is one happy little client of mine, she was so excited for her dress. I think this day was the most she spoke to me. After putting it on she was spinning and jumping around, "oh Amanda it's beautiful and it spins up to my waist", words I can't seem to forget. But WHY would I? She is my youngest client to choose the style she wanted and a big pink bow for the back. I also decked out a flower girl basket , which she "walk down the isle" of my living room with. I love kids they are just so joyful and excited about everything! A lot like me most of the time. In addition to her Mom's wedding dress, I also created a ring bearer pillow for the wedding. All in all I am super excited to see the pictures from Jamaica!

Events: Bella Serata

Our fashion event 'Bella Serata' went fabulously! I am so grateful to each of the women who came out and enjoyed a night in fantastic fashion, accessories and meet and greet with your designer. It was fun, flirty and  floral!  All these dresses were so fun to create and I am so glad I was able to share them with all of you. Thank you so much to my team, they were as always amazing and I am so blessed!

I know what it feels like to be uncomfortable in my own skin, I had body image issues almost for as long as I remember. From 13 – 16 I struggled with anorexia and bulimia, I disliked myself and never felt good no matter what I wore. I also am a recovering over eater and work every day on loving myself even when I fall off.  It has actually only been about 3 or 4 months that I’ve loved my body, and treat it well. I also now know very much what pieces fit my frame and allow me to feel amazing every day. Although, it does help when I create something specifically for myself. I look in the mirror and say ‘girl you got this!’ and go out into the world being the best that I can be, to share my light and story. That is why I do this, to help women and young girls feel comfortable in their own skin, bringing out the best so they, (you) can take on the world and be the force you are meant to be. Whether it is a day at the office or your wedding day, we can all light up this world, because ladies, ‘you got this!’

'Classic Designer Month: Theoni V. Aldredge'

Costume Designer number two is Theoni V. Aldredge! Known for using large budgets to meet the needs of her beautiful designs, winning 3 Tony Awards in her career and was nominated 12 other times. She designed costumes for many original movies including; 'The Devil's Advocate' 1961, 'Annie' 1977, 'Barnum' 1980, 'Dreamgirls' 1982 and one of my very favourite movies, 'The Secret Garden' 1991. Aldredge designed Mia Farrows dress in the 1970s 'Great Gatsby', garden party scene. She also helped establish Ralph Laurens career, using his shirts and suits to dress Robert Redford's Gatsby.
What an amazing lady!

Thank you Theoni Aldredge, you brought so much to the world of fashion.
