Dress Making Report: Christmas Addition

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, with loads of love and tons of relaxation!

Over the holiday season I was so blessed to create some very special pieces for some amazing little girls and women in my life.

While I was coming up with the ideas for these pieces, all I knew was that the little girls in my life are so full of fun and imagination, that anything I created for them had to be just that. I found this amazing fabric that looked very whimsical and mermaid like, I was instantly inspired to create the dresses you see in the second picture.

For the two women in my life that are so incredibly supportive and there whenever I need them. I had to think of something very special to put my whole heart into making, (although I put my heart into everything I create for anyone). I thought why not something comfortable and allows them to feel beautiful anytime they wear it, a kimono of course had to be the very solution. I found these beautiful fabrics and knew which one was for who right away. My mom is a light and beautiful woman who loves to be comfortable no matter what she is wearing. The long purple and floral robe was the perfect fit for her, and she loved it. As for the other, my Aquarian Mama. Well this wonderfully,  almost rock n' roll floral pattern (Betsy Johnson looking), had to be it. She loves black mostly when choosing her attire, but I knew this was perfect for her because it had such edge. I also wanted to keep it for myself because it is very me too, she was thrilled I didn't!

Dress Making Report: Halloween Addition

It has been a little while since I have posted, life has happened and I am only now able to post some projects that I have been working on.

As Halloween was a pretty busy time for me this year I was able to create a couple fun of costumes.  One was this amazing Harley Quinn for a client! Never having made a jump suit, other then the 'Jumper', I was very excited to try something new. It turned out really well and fit my client perfectly. The best part of finishing a project is seeing the clients face, when wearing the finished piece. She jumped up and down, and hugged me, I knew then she loved it!

There were two events for me this year, one was a Gotham Banquet at the Oasis in Port Credit. What an fabulous time we had! Those of you who know me, know how much I love Batman, see 'The Batman Dress'. For this event I created a Bat Woman costume with somethings I had around the house, it's a good thing I don't throw away everything. This costume turned out really well. My friend and I even ended up in one the local papers, along with some other awesome people in their costumes. (Page 31)

The second event was a friend of a friend's Stag and Doe, which was a lot of fun! I made a very simple Cave Woman costume, consisting of a leopard print dress, bones and some furry knee highs. I had a great time creating this one.

Dress Making Report: Well, this ones a Jumper!

Recently I did a rush order for a client, in about a week I made a very pink low v-neck jumper. I am excited that it turned out really well, and a little surprised as there were a few very late nights for me with this one. But the client was happy and that is the most important thing to me.

Photo Shoot: The Batman Dress

I am so very excited to present these photographs to you all, 'The Batman Dress' was created for a client in 2013, she did a shoot wearing it and the photographer sent me some amazing pictures!

This is one of my favouite pieces that I have created thus far ! It fit her perfectly and was exactly what she wanted the dress to be. Those are the two main goals I have when creating any piece.

Batman is my very favouite super hero and it is also my clients, both of us having that in common made this dress so much more fun to make. This was the first time I used a patterned fabric, I loved placing the joker in the middle of the bodice piece and making sure all of the characters were seen. She fell in love instantly when she first saw it, as it was a surprise gift from her friends for her birthday, she was so happy!

I am so glad to present these photos and hope you enjoy!!

Photo Shoot: Deconstructed Wedding Dress

Have you ever taken something apart and put it back together again in a different way, or just the way it was before?(Pretty amazing if you can)  This is something I love to do with dresses, especially wedding dresses.

A.M.E.G. Designs can take your wonderful wedding dress from any decade and turn it into something new and fitting just for you.

In July I did a photo shoot with 'Michelle Liane Photography'. We had such a great time with this shoot, it was so elegant and we were able to use this very special room.  I took a wedding dress from the 90's and transformed it into the perfect fit for my client/model. She was just stunning, and it just so happened to work with a hat I made last July in a Millinery course that I took.  I am so happy with the way these photos turned out and would like to thank Michelle for her keen eye and understanding of exactly what my inspiration was. Please take a look and enjoy!

Alterations: Flower Girls

Recently I added to tulle and bustled a beautiful wedding dress for a client, see 'Alterations: Here come the brides!'. She then asked if I would be able to take-in one and add tulle to both of her beautiful daughters flower girl dresses. Of course I took on the task, plus I absolutely love working with these little dresses. The girls were so perfect standing for their fittings, I was very impressed.  As for the flower girl dresses, they turned out really well and my client was so happy!

Spadina Museum: The Gatsby Garden Party

On June 28th a few friends and I attended a fabulous event at the Spadina Museum downtown Toronto, The Gatsby Garden Party. Even though it was more like a fall day then a summer one, there was an amazing turn out. Every one was dresses to impress in their 1920's attire and acted the part indeed. I was very impressed with the wonderment of the house itself, many articles we're left by the family for the Museum to keep. This time period is definitely one of my all time favourites and I was in a trance by it all. From the front door to the servants floor, the entire tour was fantastic and each room had very knowledgeable staff.  There was dancing and a costume parade in which every one did so well and was so excited to see the winners. When they called my number 107, needless to say I was shocked and incredibly excited! Thank you Spadina Museum for a wonderful day in the life of a flapper girl!
